Daniel Porter’s 1963 School Bus
This is Quasimodo, my 1963 ex Catholic School Bus. It was used as school transportation for the Notre Dame, High School in Price, Utah. Logos on the bus are original from when in use as a school bus! I purchased him via the Samba in July of this year and he arrived two weeks ago !
Quasimodo was rescued from a field in Utah where he had sat axle deep in mud and hidden between a barn a bushes. He has since been dug out, and rescued, before making the trip to the UK he had Brand new 3″ narrowed Jer-Fab beam and drop spindles up front – brand new drum to drum all round, brand new off-set plates from Bus-Boys in back, with T1 trans and Thing drums. A new 1670 engine was also fitted.
Future plans are basically doing what repair work is needed to the floors etc to pass a uk MOT and other than a set of shiny wheels he will be given a clear coat to maintain that amazing patina/rustina! I think this bus will cause a serious stir anywhere it goes, ill be sure to keep you updated, i hope you like !
